Metamorphosis
Saved - home made
Now that's what makes us go: when there is no motivation, no time to relax, no money. The story of each of those cats is a story of their struggle for life, with hunger, with disease. And at the same time of all the joy and satisfaction they brought into our lives, when they started to heal and to purr.
Here are some of these stories that we would never forget and loads of happy beautiful faces, that now occupy some sofas in their forever homes.
Brie
The domesticated ginger cat came under the care of the Foundation from a village near Wrocław. A tragically emaciated cat, suffering from owner neglect, was literally begging from door to door, asking for help. A good Samaritan, who suffered from allergies and was unable to keep him, reached out to us for help. When he found his way to Cat's Corner, the ginger weighed 1.5 kilograms and was covered in over 40 ticks!
The test results showed anemia, which indicated he was severely malnourished for a long time. Fortunately, Brie as he was named, responded well to medical treatment, a healthy diet complemented with supplements. He began to recover. Of course, from the very beginning, he showed us that he is a domestic mischief, hungry for human affection. Now Brie lives in his permanent home and is nothing like that emaciated poor fellow who was on the brink of life and death.
Molton
We received a notification that a very emaciated cat is hiding in a warehouse in the city center. When the volunteers arrived, it turned out that the animal was in a very bad condition. He was emaciated, suffered from significant fur loss, a dangling tail and difficulty in walking which indicated likely fractures.
After many attempts, the cat was caught in a trap cage. The rescue was attended by volunteers from Cat’s Corner and several local residents who noticed the cat and turned to us for help.
Molton, as he was later named, whose hiding place was very close to a large intersection did turn out to have been a victim of a traffic accident. The tail which was broken at the base had to be amputated and it soon became obvious that the poor boy would not be able to return to a life on the street.
With time Molton’s pelvis healed, he gained weight and regained his will to live. He ended up in a temporary home, where his guardian not only was able to tame him, but also offered him a forever home. Now Molton is a beautiful fluffy cat, a member of a family who along with two other cats sleeps on the bed, seeks human contact and does not think about running outside. We like such endings very much. :)
Perełka
This little kitten was found by a Foundation volunteer in a tragic condition. High temperature, severe symptoms caused by to the feline calicivirosis virus, lack of appetite. The pus-filled eyes seemed impossible to save. The vet did not give her great chances: however, we fought for her and this little Pearl, as if understanding our efforts, began to show the will to live.
We tried every treatment available to boost her immunity. Finally, this little girl started to improve, not only developing a healthy appetite but also an interest in active play. And on top of that we managed to save her eyes, with only small surrounding scars, which do not interfere with her vision, testifying to the infection. Perełka went to a caring home and will forever remain one of those cats that remind us that we cannot give up!
Pimpek
Pimpek’s case is one of the most touching stories from the Koci Zakatek.
This evidently older male came to us from the street where he probably spent most of his life. The treatment began with a paw injury - a large gaping wound, infection, soft tissue and bone damage prevented the cat from using its paw. Fortunately, after the implemented treatment, the paw started to heal beautifully. At first, he was so scared that three people had to assist in administering drugs and conducting of tests and we were concerned that this senior feline would have to go back on the street...
However, a miracle happened - there was a person who offered this old, snorting, ragged fellow a temporary home! And soon another cat shock in the history of our foundation followed. Pimpek felt in the apartment like the proverbial "fish in water". He not only started to show affection to people, reacted beautifully to strokes but also was a constant companion to his new foster parent. This tomcat, which seemed to have the best years of his life behind him, started playing with toys, sleeping on pillows and chasing a fishing rod!
Unfortunately our joy was short lived, as he started to lose his appetite. Just as everything started to go so well for him, tests showed that Pimpuś suffered from lymphoma. :( However, he has a great will to live and with the help of appropriate drugs, we continue to ensure his well-being. Until the doctor determines, based on symptoms and behavioral changes, that Pimpek needs to be helped with dignity to pass away, we want him to experience the care and love that was missing in his previous life for so long.
Let's write next happy story together
